Dan Haynes is an industry veteran, bringing almost 20 years of experience to benefit his clients. Spending time both in-house as Chief Compliance Officer and as a consultant, Dan is able to help navigate the often-complex challenges of running a Compliance Program within a successful business. Dan spends time in all aspects of Compliance Programs, in addition to speaking at conferences and authoring thought leadership pieces.

Prior to joining altPILOT, Dan served as a Director and Consultant for six years at CSS, a Confluence Company. Dan provided a holistic approach to compliance to a myriad of RIAs, ranging from state-registrants to firms managing billions of dollars.

Before CSS, Dan was the Chief Compliance Officer for Summit Strategies Group. Summit was a large institutional pension consultant in the Midwest with multiple private funds – ultimately around $180 billion in assets under administration. Dan implemented and oversaw the entire Compliance Program. His time there gave him experience with NFA/CFTC registration and regulation, private fund oversight, and the pension consulting world overall.

Prior to Summit, Dan was the Chief Compliance Officer for Buckingham Strategic Wealth and Buckingham Strategic Partners. During his extensive time there, Dan oversaw not just all aspects of the Compliance Programs, but provided guidance and education to over 150 RIAs across the country. Most of Dan’s time was spent overseeing acquisitions (and subsequent expansion of remote offices), implementing rules under the Dodd-Frank Act, and guiding his firms and others through regulatory examinations.

Dan has also served as a member of the Charles Schwab Compliance Advisory Board. Through this role, Dan provided feedback to Charles Schwab on a myriad of compliance and business-related items.

Dan began his career in banking operations and compliance, serving as the Bank Secrecy Act Officer for Williamsville State Bank and Trust in Springfield, IL.
